Swiss Army Blanket Chair

My favorite piece in the store might very well be this vintage swiss army blanket chair.
I LOVE the industrial feel of it mixed with the old army textile.

We found a mid-century Harter steel chair and reupholster the piece with the blanket's fun red stripe and patent seal.
How fun would this piece be as a desk chair?!

Chair retails for $315.

Definitely statement pieces.

Another Go-'Round for L.L. Bean

My heart nearly skipped a beat this morning when I read that Alex Carleton (creator of Rogues Gallery) will be designing a "Signature Line" for L.L. Bean. Very excited to see the totes and bags he'll be creating. If they're anything like the ones he's doing for Rouges, I'll be stocking up! (i.e. I want that last bag on the right!)

One of our newest gems to hit the store floor is this LOVELY French riddling rack. The purpose of these racks was to aid in the process of making champagne. However, this rack would be perfect for holding your personal collection of wine.

The rack measures 61" x 36" and retails for $395.

Travel & Leisure!!!

SUPER exciting news... ACQUIRE is featured in the July issue of Travel & Leisure magazine.
The magazine did a nice story about the North End neighborhood and their favorite local spots.
The publication won't hit newsstands for another week, but if you happen to be a subscriber you should have received your copy.
I am dying to see how the piece turned out! Anyone want to email me a scanned copy of the article?

3/50 Project

A colleague shared some information with me about a new project.
It's called the 3/50 Project, and it is a grassroots campaign designed to "save" independent businesses.

Participation is really simple. Choose your three favorite locally owned businesses, and at those three shops combined, commit to spending $50 a month.

If half of the U.S. population did this, we would generate more than $42 trillion in revenue. For every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays local.

So get out there and support your local independent stores!

Industrial Artwork

We get a number of requests from customers for interesting pieces of artwork.
I think our most recent installation fits the bill perfectly.
This set of vintage factory molds is taken from an old foundry in Maine.
We love the three dimensional quality the piece takes on-- as well as the lines/curves it creates in a grouping.
The eight piece set retails for $200.
(Reference pictures have been taken to make re-hanging a breeze.)

Just a few Judy Ross pillows left and I have decided to sell them at HALF OFF to make way for some lovely Trina Turk pillows and new Design Legacy pillow goodness that is arriving ever so soon to the store.

Typically, Judy's pillows retail for $185- but we will be selling her pieces at $95 until Sunday. So stop by and scoop them up. We're down to five pillows left.

**And good news for out-of-town readers, we will ship these anywhere in the U.S. of A.**

Feel like a kid again

When I first was designing the interior/exterior look of ACQUIRE, one of the first decisions was putting a planter box above my door's shop sign.

Unfortunately winter came quick to Boston and I haven't been able to plant anything in the planter until today!

The planter box is a good nine feet from the ground, so it took a TALL ladder and a nice guy from the hardware shop down the street to get all of my Persian ivy into the box. The funny part is that I am not a fan of heights, so climbing up a tall enough ladder to constantly water the plants is probably not going to happen. Plus, there is no tap outside the store to run a hose. SO....I will be watering the plants with one of these bad boys...

I LOVE my new "Quick Blast" super soaker!! First off, it's HUGE (it holds a liter of water) and mine is electric blue!! Amazing.

If you come in and ask me nicely, I'll let you try out the new watering toy too.

A Sneak Peek...

One of the latest items to arrive at ACQUIRE is this FABULOUS industrial factory cart. The cart dates from the late 1800s and has been fully restored. It measures 48" wide x 16" high x 29" deep. The perfect size for a coffee table!

Happy Spring Shopping!

Grey Gardens!

I don't about you, but I am SO excited to watch the HBO premiere of Grey Gardens tomorrow night.
Somehow, I feel like THIS brooch from Erie Basin would have fit Little Edie perfectly in her heyday.

It is a wonderfully, well-edited selection of vintage and antique jewelry.
